Biography
Andrew has advised law firms for over 20 years on a wide range of strategic, funding, regulatory and operational matters. He is part of the North West office and advises businesses across the country. He also advises businesses in related areas such as practice and litigation funders and claims management companies.
Whilst he acts for legal practices of all shapes and sizes he has developed a detailed knowledge of firms operating in retail litigation and has provided accounting support in developing innovative approaches to the current issues of that sector particularly LASPO and referral fees, recoverable fixed cost changes and the wider impact of the Jackson Reforms. His clients are experiencing the challenges brought about by these changes and the potential ABS opportunities and he is well positioned to advise legal firms regarding the most appropriate strategy to adopt.
Recent assignments have included:
- Review of accounting policies for accounting for cases run using conditional fee agreements under both UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Reviews of 'Retention and Reward' policies for senior solicitors and equity partners.
- Assessment of disposal of practice Vs.'Run off' for personal injury based firms.
- Review of strategic options and related accounting structures for a number of entities in the personal injury market.
