Biography
Dougy has been advising owner managed businesses on all tax issues for close to 30 years. For the last 20 years, he has mainly specialised in corporation tax and has helped to deliver an efficient corporation tax compliance process for his clients, but also ensure his corporate clients are claiming all the tax reliefs that they should be claiming.
Innovation is key in any business and Dougy has helped his clients claim R&D tax credits and patent box tax relief. Being located in the North East of Scotland also allowed him to help his many game company clients claim video game tax credits.
His original grounding in taxation was advising high net worth clients in London and that experience has allowed him to continue to advise his clients on business restructuring and business exit planning.
Dougy's areas of specialisms are corporate tax, entrepreneurial business exit planning and tax efficient reconstructions and his specialist sectors are construction, technology and the creative sector.
He spent 16 years with PWC, KPMG and EY starting in personal tax high net worth planning and compliance, moving to an OMB department at KPMG and then EY for eight years in corporation tax.
Dougy spent three years as head of tax of a Scottish owned property company with significant overseas interests, and was Director of Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce for six years and is a Chartered Tax Adviser.
