Biography
Richard is the Newcastle office managing partner and works with businesses and their owners to ensure tax efficiency by seeking to identify and implement tax planning opportunities. He also takes an active role alongside the private client team mostly for business owners/property landlords where he looks to identify and undertake planning assignments.
Richard trained with EY before moving to an independent firm of chartered accountants, The Charlton Williamson Partnership, in 2000. He qualified as a CTA in 2002 and progressed from senior to manager and then onto partner in 2011. In September 2011 The Charlton Williamson Partnership was acquired by Baker Tilly (now RSM).
Richard works across a range of sectors but specialises in leisure and hospitality, healthcare and TMT. This has resulted in a number of re-organisations, capital allowances assignments and transaction advice as well as maximising tax allowances for innovation through the R&D regime.
