Biography
Nick is partner in RSM’s internal audit team, specialising in the healthcare and charities sectors. He has operated at head of internal audit level within the health sector for the past 15 years, both at RSM and with a boutique NHS agency. For the healthcare sector, and specifically the NHS, the biggest challenges (at the moment) are around development of integrated care services, responding to and recovering from Covid-19 and managing the many workforce risks. Nick works to offer solutions driven advice that is helping the sector constructively tackle these challenges on a daily basis.
Nick’s approach to client service excellence is based on providing tailored advice, meaningful benchmarks and implementing best practice so that his clients can respond effectively to an increasingly challenging business environment. The NHS has responded brilliantly to the challenges of Covid-19 and is now setting off on a further ambitious plan towards more joined up and integrated care. Nick’s role is to provide assurance and advice to NHS Organisations as they face these challenges and seek to mitigate the risks to achieving their objectives, working with their local partners in the health economy. Whilst specialising in the specifics of internal audit, Nick also operates at board level to provide strategic and risk-based advice.
Nick also regularly works with the charity sector. He provides advice and support in their governance, management of risks and internal controls. He has excellent experience of chairing strategic meetings and audit and risk committees that enables him to help with skills transfer, sharing knowledge and advice as well as bringing RSM’s wider charities experience to bear.
